This hand thrown two handled mug is decorated with a white Light Sussex chicken with a yellow chick, on both the back and the front, against a dark blue background. The inside is white which more easily shows the level of the tea or coffee as hot water is poured in to the mug.
Each mug is hand painted and the chicken and chick will be in a range of different positions.
It holds a generous 400 mls or three quarters of a pint of liquid.
The handles are comfortable to hold and would provide extra stability for people who have lost hand strength or have tremors.
It would also make a unique gift for a farmer, small holder or backyard poultry keeper.
It is painted in coloured slips and finished in a food safe clear glaze.
All my coloured slips (liquid clay) are applied manually, with a brush, and so variations in depth of colour will occur and occasionally reveal the the rich terracotta of the clay body beneath.
