This jug is hand thrown in red earthenware clay and decorated with snowdrops and foliage against a contrasting dark grey background. It has a white rim which extends inside the top of the jug. The design runs all around the body of the jug so can be viewed from all angles.
This is a small to medium sized jug and would be suitable for milk or cream. It would also make a good vase for a posy of spring flowers. It holds nearly three quarters of a pint of liquid and pours well.
The handle is hand pulled and so very comfortable to hold.
It is painted in coloured slips, made from ball clay and colouring oxides and stains, which I mix myself and is finished in a food safe clear glaze.
All my coloured slips are applied manually with brushes so variations in depth of colour will occur and occasionally reveal the rich terracotta of the clay body beneath.
