Decorative hand thrown mug with a lid for keeping your tea hot. I call the design Meadow Flowers and this mug has the addition of a Blue tit perching on the lid.
The inside is turquoise.
This design was inspired by watching baby blue tits appealing to their parents to feed them on our bird table in the garden. It would make an unusual and useful gift for a gardener or bird watcher.
I paint my pottery with coloured slips which I mix myself from ball clay, metal oxides and ceramic stains . As well as regular sable paintbrushes I use primitive brushes which I make from splitting hazel twigs (often chewing them to achieve finer filaments!) and also use flower and seed heads to apply the design.
Each one is uniquely hand painted with coloured slips and finished with a clear food safe glaze.
