This hand thrown utensil pot is decorated with a design of white geese against a sage green background. The inside of the pot is white. The outline of the geese has been accentuated by sgraffito which means scratching through the surface colour to reveal the dark terracotta colour of the clay body. I have also added flowing lines around the geese to suggest movement.
The heavy weight and proportions make this pot suitable to hold a wide range of wooden spoons and other utensils without the risk of tipping over.
To use this pot as a wine cooler just add ice or put in the freezer for an hour or so to keep wine cool on a summer evening.
This pot could also be used as a vase for flowers or dried grasses as it is very stable.
The colourful design is hand painted and finished in a food safe clear glaze.
