This hand thrown pottery teacup is decorated with black faced sheep and lambs against a sage green field and vibrant turquoise sky. The inside of the cup is also a turquoise blue.
The sheep are painted all around the cup, some grazing and some gazing!
The handle is hand pulled and comfortable to hold and the rounded shape of the cup makes it very nice to cradle in the hands.
It holds over half a pint or 350 mls tea to quench the thirst.
It would make a unique Easter or spring birthday gift for a farmer or country lover.
I paint my pottery with coloured slips which I mix myself from ball clay, metal oxides and ceramic stains . As well as regular sable paintbrushes I use sponges and primitive brushes which I make from splitting hazel twigs (often chewing them to achieve finer filaments!) and also use flower and seed heads to apply the design.
It is painted in coloured slips and finished in a food safe clear glaze.
Dishwasher safe.
